In a special called meeting Feb. 25, 2013, the Hartselle Board of Education approved hiring Lisa McMurray as financial consultant for a three-month period to fill the role of chief school financial officer.

McMurray retired from the Madison City Board of Education in April of 2011. She will fulfill the duties currently done by chief school financial officer Sarita Tapscott, who is resigning to take the same position with Alabaster City Schools.

In other action the board approved adding Dr. Nancy Horton as being able to sign checks on the boards general and payroll fund accounts at Cadence Bank.

The checks require two signatures and currently Dr. Mike Reed and Tapscott are the approved signatures. With Tuesday being Tapscott’s last day, this action was necessary to comply with policy.
