Tigers finish tourney 5-2

The 2013 Hartselle baseball team is off to a 5-2 start during the Birmingham-Huntsville tournament last week.

Hartselle 11, Bob Jones 6

Hartselle took a 7-2 lead in the first two innings and never looked back.

Chris Brown led the way with three hits and an RBI. Deacon Aldridge also had two hits in the win.

Aaron Lamb and Zane Hamlett finished with two RBIs each. Brown, Lamb and Hamlett all had doubles. Tyler Phillips also had an RBI. Aldridge, Brett Blackwood and Phillips had stolen bases.

Dakota Fowler earned the win with five strikeouts in three innings of work for a total of 78 pitches.

Oak Mountain 6, Hartselle 5

Six Hartselle errors doomed the Tigers against Oak Mountain.

Brady Wallace took the loss despite having five strikeouts in four innings of work for Hartselle. Jake Shelton also had three strikeouts in three innings for 30 pitches.

Brett Blackwood, Chris Brown and Aaron Lamb all had doubles. Blackwood, Brown and Tyler Phillips had RBIs. Daniel Conley and Jordan Robinson had stolen bases.

Hartselle 12, Buckhorn 0 (5)

Brett Blackwood had three hits and four RBIs in the win, including a home run. Easton Chenault also had a hit. Chris Brown had a home run and two RBIs. Zane Hamlett had a double and two RBIs. Tyler Phillips and Jordan Robinson also added RBIs.

Robinson and Deacon Aldridge had two stolen bases each while Brown and Daniel Conley also had stolen bases.

Tillman Landers earned the win while Levi Tapscott had three strikeouts in three innings of work.
