Meth labs found in Cotaco apartment

Three people were arrested Wednesday night after methamphetamine labs were found at an apartment in the Cotaco/Valhermoso Springs community.

Morgan County Deputies around arrived at 51 Day Rolfe Road Apartment #1 around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to execute a felony warrant on Tony Collins, who had outstanding felony warrants for the unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Deputies noticed to a strong chemical odor present within residence and believed chemical odor was associated with the manufacturing of meth. Agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force located three one-pot methamphetamine labs along with precursor chemicals and equipment used in the manufacturing process to produce methamphetamine within the residence.

Donald Long, Mary Joann Rivas and Gerald Massey were all arrested and charged with three counts each for unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance first degree – methamphetamine and for the unlawful possession of felony drug paraphernalia.

Rivas was out on bond for a prior unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance second degree – methamphetamine from 2012 in Huntsville. and Donald Long is currently on probation with Community Corrections, Morgan County.

Circuit Court Judge Thompson denied bonds for Rivas and Long for their charges. Massey’s bond was set at $17,500.
