Enquirer announces all-area football honors

The Hartselle Enquirer is releasing its 2012 All-Area Football team.

Here are the members of the the team:

QB: Deacon Aldridge, Hartselle, Sr.: accounted for 2,584 yards of total offense and was responsible for 25 TDs.

RB: Blake Slayton: Hartselle, Sr.: Finished with 1,078 yards rushing and 202 receiving with 10 total TDs in spite of injuries.

RB: Hunter Woodall, Falkville, Soph.: Rushed for 1,058 yards to help the Blue Devils make the playoffs for the first time in more than 10 years.

WR: Sidney Steele, Hartselle, Sr: Caught 43 passes for 588 yards and 6 TDs and rushed for 114 yards on 19 carries with a score.

WR: Nick Bell, Priceville, Sr., Had 39 receptions for 804 yards and 16 TDs. He also had 500 kick return yards and 2 TDs. On defense, he had 30 tackles and 3 INT. Kicking, he was 2-for-3 on FG and 38-for-40 on PATs with 85 percent of kickoffs for touchbacks.

WR: Dallas McAbee, Danville, Jr.: Led Danville in receiving with 428 yards and two touchdowns.

OL: Dylan Thompson, Hartselle, Sr. A three-year starter for the Tigers, including the 2011 championship season.

OL: Evan Anderson, Danville, Sr.: Started every game this season.

OL: Sky Jones, Priceville, Jr.: Helped lead one of North Alabama’s top offenses.

OL: Tyler Childers, Brewer, Soph.: Helped the Patriots offense improve.

OL: Jared Rowe, Falkville, Sr.: Anchored an offensive line that helped Falkville finish 7-4 on the season.

K: Brock Garrison, Danville, Sr.: Made three of four field goal attempts with a long of 37 yards. Also made 20 of 22 extra points and had three touchbacks on kickoffs.

DL: Thomas Fleischman, Hartselle, Sr.: The two-year starter had 76 tackles including 10 tackles for a loss and five sacks.

DL: Blair Sittason: Hartselle, Sr.: The three-year starter had 60 tackles, including two sacks and two pass break ups. He worked well with fellow DE Fleischman.

DL: Tyler Jolley, Danville: Had 65 tackles including 6.5 sacks and had a defensive TD.

LB: Tyler Phillips: Hartselle, Sr.: 105 tackles, four tackles for a loss, five pass break-ups, a sack and a blocked FG. He started for 3 1/2 years.

LB: Waid Miller, Hartselle, Jr.: led Hartselle with 138 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, a sack, two pass breakups and a pick.

LB: Justin Hannah, Danville: led the Hawks with 117 tackles and had three sacks and an INT.

LB: Shawn Mears, Falkville, Jr.: Led Falkville’s defense with 68 tackles.

DB: Aaron Lamb, Hartselle, Sr., The two-year starter had 102 tackles, 6 pass breakups and an INT.

DB: Garrett Fowler, Hartselle, Sr.: Had 46 tackles, a tackle for a loss, 12 pass breakups and four INT despite missing first two games due to surgery.

DB: Justin Morgan, Danville, Sr.: Led Danville with four interceptions on defense. Also was an efficient passer for the Hawks, throwing for 1,462 yards and 10 touchdowns.

ATH: Aaron Estes, Falkville, Jr.: Led Falkville with eight interceptions. He also threw for 819 yards and five touchdowns as the Blue Devils’ quarterback, while rushing for 223 yards and three touchdowns.
