Individuals, partnerships and corporations doing business within Hartselle’s city limits are reminded that their businesses licenses are due and payable as of Jan. 1, 2013.

A $2 increase will be in effect on the issuance fee, according to City Clerk/Controller Rita Lee. A change from $10 to $12 was approved after the State of Alabama raised its issuance fee by the same amount. The fee remained at $10 for five years. Otherwise, the city’s license fee schedule remains the same as it was in 2012.

Licenses are payable through the month of January. Afterward, they are subject to a 15 percent penalty with the add-on of a one percent interest charge for each day they remain unpaid, Lee said.

Lee said license renewal notices totaling about 3,500 were mailed out several weeks ago.

License renewal payments may be made in person at the Municipal Building from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or mailed to City of Hartselle, 200 Sparkman St. NW, Hartselle, AL 35640.
