The Falkville Lions Club helped at least 42 families during its Christmas giveaway at the Falkville Fire Department Saturday afternoon.

Terry Nappier with the Lions Club said that represented at least 85 local children, who will now be able to receive toys and other items for Christmas this year.

“We’ve been doing this for more than 40 years,” Nappier said. “We’ve been doing this since the 1970s and its something that we enjoy doing.”

The club also gives each family a sack of fruit, along with a plate of cookies and a bottle of soda.
