Badger qualifes for US meet

Trina Badger, a cross-country runner for Brewer High School, was a winner in the 2012 Alabama Association Cross Country Championships in Montgomery on Saturday.

She claimed a third place medal in the Intermediate Girls 5K run in the Junior Olympics event.

She also qualified to run in the USATF National Junior Cross Country meet in Albuquerque, N.M. on Dec. 8.

Badger, a sophomore at Brewer High School, finished in 12th place and qualified for All-State honors at the AHSAA Cross Country Championships at Oakville Indian Mounds Park on Nov. 10.

Badger ran as an individual qualifier in the girl’s 5K run. She held the 22nd position one mile into the race and was in 13th two miles in. Her season best time was 20:09.
