Suspect linked to three church burglaries
A Hartselle man has been charged with three of the four church burglaries along with a number of burglaries and theft since October.
David Bradley Cobb has been charged with burglary in the second degree and breaking and entering (automobile). He is being held on a $45,000 bond.
On Oct. 6, a residence in Hartselle was burglarized while the victim was asleep inside. This was one of a string of burglaries and thefts that followed. Investigators linked Cobb as a possible suspect.
Then on Friday, officers observed Cobb leave his house, go to a nearby neighborhood, park and “black-out” for several minutes.
The suspect then left the neighborhood, apparently headed back to his residence. Suspecting the subject had committed another burglary, officers initiated a traffic stop.
The suspect failed to stop for the officer and continued on to his residence.
Officers made contact with the suspect at his residence where he was placed under arrest. Officers also discovered evidence which linked him to other crimes.
In a statement to investigators, Cobb admitted to several burglaries and auto burglaries.
Lt. Justin Barley said Cobb was to three burglaries on Wednesday morning at Westview Church of Christ, Faith Chapel Praise Center and First Church of God.
Police are still investigating a fourth church burglary at United Pentecostal Church, where a drum set was stolen.
