Mattie Bowen Meikus

Funeral for Mattie Bowen Meikus, 92, of Decatur will be Wed., Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Craig Carlisle officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed., Nov. 14, 2012 from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Meikus died Mon., Nov. 12, 2012, at Decatur Morgan Hospital – Parkway campus. She was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Morgan County to William Houston Sanders and Mamie Lillian (Brown) Sanders. Mrs. Meikus was a member of Central Park Baptist Church. She was formerly employed at Castner Knott as a retail sales clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Lewis Bowen; her parents; two brothers, William Houston Sanders Jr. and Ossie Bill Sanders; and one sister, Willodean Sanders Hughes.

She is survived by four sons, Billy Bowen and Ron Bowen, both of Decatur, Bob Bowen and wife Debbie of Hartselle and Buck Bowen and wife Judy of Priceville; two stepsons, Bill Meikus and wife Mary of Brisbane, Australia, and Richard Meikus and wife Nancy of Hartselle; a stepdaughter, Rita Funk and husband Paul of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family members.
