Falkville powers way to tourney title

Falkville won the Cullman Umpire’s Softball Tournament last weekend with a dominating offensive outing.
The Lady Blue Devils finished 3-2 in the tournament with both losses coming in pool play.
The Lady Blue Devils beat Vinemont 11-4 in the championship game with three hits each from Katie Annerton and Megan Hill.
Annerton was the winning pitcher. She also drove in four runs, while Hill drove in three runs.
Samantha Davis scored three runs for the Lady Blue Devils in the championship game.
Falkville played the tournament with several players battling nagging injuries, including catcher Sarah Goodman who has been sidelined since the opening game of the season.
Hill hit .900 for the tournament, while Davis was at .636. Both Paige Mayer and Katie Annerton hit .583 for the tournament.
Falkville 8, West Point 5
Samantha Davis and Katie Annerton both went 3-for-3 in Falkville’s win over West Point in the semifinals.
Paige Mayer added two hits and drove in three runs for Falkville. Megan Hill also finished with two hits and added an RBI.
Annerton got the win.
Falkville 6, Cold Springs 1
Falkville opened up the tournament with a 6-1 win over Cold Springs in pool play behind Megan Hill’s three RBIs.
Hill went 2-for-2 at the plate in the win.
Samantha Davis went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Katie Annerton earned the win for Falkville.
Annerton, Paige Mayer, Mallory Miner, Callie Shedd and Katelynne Smith all had one hit each. Smith added an RBI for the Lady Blue Devils, who had 10 hits in the game.
West Point 11, Falkville 6
Falkville had 11 hits in a loss to West Point in pool play.
Katelynne Smith suffered the loss for the Lady Blue Devils.
Megan Hill drove in three runs with three hits. Paige Mayer went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, while Callie Shedd added two hits and an RBI for Falkville.
Vinemont 6, Falkville 5
Falkville stranded runners on second and third when the game ended on a fly out to centerfield.
Katelynne Smith got the loss despite pitching a solid game.
Megan Hill was 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.
Mallory Miner, Mary Ward, Samantha Davis and Callie Shedd all added hits in the loss.
Miner scored twice for Falkville.
Regular season
Falkville 17, Decatur Heritage 6
Falkville pounded out 19 hits in a 17-6 rout of Decatur Heritage.
Six different Falkville players had three hits in the win.
Priceville 6, LCHS 4
Taylor Holt had three hits and drove in two runs as Priceville beat Lawrence County.
Danielle Richard, Mandy Bunnell, Kaytlin St. John, Chasity Martin and Meagan Bond all had hits for Priceville.
Bond went the distance to earn the win for Priceville.
