Frontier Days is a success again

I am sure everyone enjoyed Eva Frontier Days Sept. 22-29. I know we all enjoyed all the food and also seeing everyone we had not seen in a long time.

First, we had the beauty contest at Journey Church. I did not get a list of the winners but will try to get it later.

Next was the bluegrass picking and singing Saturday night.

The hayride was on Tuesday night. It was estimated that 900 people went on the hay ride. This was not a record. There were more last year. Eva is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s largest hay ride. A street dance with music was held on on Friday night.

On Saturday a street parade was featured. All the tractors in the world were in the parade, as well as horses, old cars and all of the beauty contest winners. There where several floats and Journey Church won first place.

On Saturday night, Sept. 29, Journey Church had its annual beans and greens supper, with cornbread and desserts. We estimated we fed 150 to 200 people.

There was inflatable for the kids and a bucking bull ride. Hey some of the little ones tried it, too, and did good. Pastor Joey Coots should be out a bit, he got bucked off royal!

Last but not least, Barbara Frost won the Flower Garden Quilt donated by the senior ladies at the Eva Senior Center.

Judge Glenn Thompson visited the senior center on Friday and ate lunch. We enjoyed talking to him.

I was impressed with his program with drugs.

My daughter and granddaughter had a bad experience at a restaurant recently.

Our little great-granddaughter Scarlett is one-year-old and has ashma They were told they could not sit at the back of the restaurant at a table.

They explained they were sitting there to be away from the people smoking and did not move up. I am so against smoking in a restaurant. Guess what. There will be a lot of people who want go there anymore.

On Sunday, Lawance Cove Baptist church had their Fifth Sunday singing and dinner. Later, everyone enjoyed hearing New Harvest sing!
