Danville sweeps trimatch at Priceville, Lady Bulldogs move to 5-1 in area play

Danville won both matches in a tri-match at Priceville Thursday night.

The No. 6 Lady Hawks defeated Brooks 25-16, 27-25 and then squeaked past Priceville 25-22, 21-25, 15-13.

“A lot of credit should go to Priceville,” said Danville coach Spencer Cole. “They played great defense, and we were extremely fortunate to get out of there with a win.”

Statistical leaders for the Lady Hawks were Sydni Shelton with 25 kills and 11 digs and Kellee Stiles with 12 kills.

Charlee Anderson added 37 assists while Sloan Lindsey had 10 digs and three aces.

Priceville also clinched at least a share of the area championship with a straight set win over Brooks Thursday night. They finished 5-1 in the area and could host the area tournament in October.

Danville will be in action on Saturday in its Tournament of Champions. Hartselle, Addison, West Morgan and 17 other top teams from the state are expected to participate in the tournament. Action begins at 9 a.m. on courts at Danville Middle and High schools along with the gym Danville-Neel Elementary.
