DANVILLE - Priceville’s Jacolby Reid scored 12 of his team-high 21 points in the second half as the Bulldogs rallied for a 60-55 victory over Danville in the opening round of the Morgan County Tournament Monday night.
Tyler Croft added 13 points, providing an offensive spark down the stretch when he hit five of six free throw attempts in the fourth quarter.
Priceville - a team that won just one game last season - improved to 12-12 with the win over the same team that had handed the Bulldogs a double-digit loss in December.
Priceville will face top-seeded West Morgan in the semifinals at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
Kristian Barker chipped in with 10 points for Priceville.
Erick Cordova scored 22 points, but he had just seven points in the second half. He hit four 3-pointers for the Hawks, who dropped to 5-16 overall.
The Hawks also got nine points from Dillon Childers and six points from Kevin Jacko.
Priceville outscored the host Hawks 17-10 in the fourth quarter to overcome a six-point deficit midway through the third quarter.
Cordova scored on a drive to the basket and Dakota McClung hit a 3-pointer to give the Hawks a 40-34 margin with 3:32 remaining in the third quarter.
Priceville limited Danville to just two baskets the remainder of the quarter and tied the game at 43-43 with five straight points from Reid.
Josh Henley helped Danville quickly regain the lead with a bucket at the end of the quarter and Russell Standridge scored on a 15-foot jumper to put the Hawks in front 47-43.
Hensley scored a minute later to push the advantage back up to six points at 49-43.
But the Hawks would not score again until Dillon Childers hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final 1:23.
Priceville used a 17-6 run to oust the host team from the tournament on the first day. The Bulldogs’ Barker had four points during the run, including two straight buckets that put Priceville in front 54-49 with 1:38 remaining.
Danville never got closer than three points down the stretch.
