Walter H. Campbell

Funeral for Walter H. Campbell, 94, of Decatur was Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 1 p. m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Samuel Hester and Bruce Blankenship officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Campbell died Sunday, Dec. 28, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Colbert County to Alford Campbell and Eva Stovall Campbell. A graduate of Leighton High School, he was a former member and deacon of Hartselle Church of Christ, and also attended East Colbert and River Road Churches of Christ. He filled in for churches in Lawrence and Morgan County needing a minister. He was a five-year veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was decorated with a Bronze Star, Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. He retired from the Soil conservation Service and later founded Heritage House Woodcrafting and was co-owner of C&C Woodworks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise H. Campbell; an infant daughter; and three sisters, Lois Terry, Melba Willis and Maebell Amos.
He is survived by a daughter, Beth Moore of Decatur; a brother, Frank Campbell of Hatton; two sisters, Frances Patterson of Florence and Martha Cartee of Leighton; three grandchildren, Blake Moore, Rachel Moore and Allison Prater; and two great-grandchildren, Aleia Prater and Tristan Moore.
Nephews and friends were pallbearers.
