Woman caught with meth, other drugs in purse

A woman is facing drug charges after authorities caught her with illegal drugs in her purse.

Sara Schaffer Williams was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and obstructing justice using a false identity. She is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Williams was arrested when the Morgan County Drug Task Force and Hartselle Police Department served a warrant at America’s Best Inn room 225 in Hartselle Wednesday.

According to a Morgan County Sheriff’s press release, the suspect gave the officers a false name. Officers also discovered that methamphetamine and an assortment of other painkillers were in her purse.

Officers also arrested Lela Nicole Smith and charged her with drug endangerment of a child, since a 10-year-old child was on the premises. She is being held at the Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Smith also had outstanding warrants with Cullman County Sheriffs Office for bad checks.
