Wendell Andrew ‘Joe’ Buckelew

A graveside service and interment for Wendell Andrew “Joe” Buckelew, 71, will be Fri., Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. in the Blair Cemetery with James Anderton officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Thur., Sept. 13, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Buckelew died on Wed., Sept. 12, 2012, at Country Living Assisted Living in Falkville. He was born, Jan. 1, 1941, in Cullman County to Andrew Michael Buckelew and Eula Jane (Rodgers) Buckelew. Mr. Buckelew worked at King Edward Cigars in Cullman for 13 years and was a gravedigger for 40 years.

He is survived by a son, Michael “Buck” Buckelew of Hartselle; two daughters, Katrina Putman and husband Scott and Karen Pitzing, both of Cullman; a brother, Kenneth Ray “Bo Jack” Buckelew of Cullman; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Griffin, Billy Jones, Ronald Burdett, Clarence Walls, Scott Puttman and Claude Buckelew.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions be made to Omega Hospice of Cullman County, 973 County Road 1435, Cullman, AL 35058, 256-737-1793.
