Luther Babe 'L.B' Roper

Funeral for Luther Babe "L.B." Roper, 78, of Hartselle was Saturday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Faye Tippett and Glenn Norris officiating.
Burial was in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Roper died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at his residence. A native of Morgan County, he was retired as a painter and was the widower of Martha Roper. Mr. Roper was the brother of the late Annie Laura Roper Lee.
He is survived by three sons, Gene Roper of Hartselle, Roy "Buddy" Roper of Decatur and Donnie Roper Sr. of Milton, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia Roper Haygood of Lakeland, Fla. and Shirley Roper Crisp of Polk City, Fla.; one stepson, Mitch Brown of Clarksville, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Loretta B. Atkins and Barbara Earls, both of Hartselle and Clarence Bradshaw of Sharpsburg, Ga.; three brothers, Casey Roper and John Roper, both of Decatur and William Roper of Heflin; two sisters, Annie Lou Lee and Mable Roan, both of Decatur; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
