Vassilevska, Williams to wed
Panayot and Tanya Vassilevski of San Ramon, Calif. announce the engagement of their daughter, Virginia Vassilevska to Richard “Ryan” Williams, son of Glenn and Teena Williams of Somerville.
The future bride is the granddaughter of Menka Vassilevska and Spiro Vassilevski of Varna, Bulgaria, and Genka Kostova and the late Valcho Kostov of Sofia, Bulgaria.
A graduate of the Germand Language High School of Sofia, she received her bachelor’s degree from the California Institute of Technology and her master’s degree and PhD in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
The future groom is the grandson of Elizabeth Kelly of Decatur, the late Rev. Jasper Kelly, Faye Williams of Somerville, and the late Harold “Buddy” Williams.
He attended Brewer High School and graduated from the Alabama School of Math and Science in Mobile. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and his PhD in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Penn.
Both the bride and groom have received research fellowships in the School of Mathematics at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.
The wedding is planned for Sept. 6, 2008, at Princeton United Methodist Church in Princeton, New Jersey.
