Gunfire heard by Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputies led to the discovery of a marijuana plants being grown in Hartselle.

On Sunday evening, sheriff’s deputies in vicinity of Alabama 36 West and Jenkins Court heard several gunshots. Deputies located several residents at 38 Jenkins Court behind a home shooting.

While speaking to persons at the residence, the deputies observed in plain sight several marijuana plants growing in pots in backyard. Danny Lee Annerton advised the officers that he was the property owner and did advise when asked, that he also had marijuana plants growing in his bathroom.

Deputies conducted a search of property and residence and found that marijuana plants were being grown inside residence.

The Morgan County Drug Task Force was called to scene. During search a total of 6 growing marijuana plants along with several dead or dying small marijuana plants were located. Also located was an AK-47 Rifle.

Officers also located 4 children, ranging in ages from 0-4, were present.

Annerton was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana first degree. Two other suspects, Austin Grantland and Stephen Grantland, were both charged with loitering in a drug house.

The suspects were transported to the Morgan County Jail. Annerton is being held on a $2,500 bond while Austin Grantland and Stephen Grantland face bonds of $300.

The Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the case with more arrests possible.
