Elsie “Pete or Granny” South

Funeral for Elsie “Pete or Granny” South, 69, of Falkville will be Sat., June 23, at 1 p.m. at New Hope North Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Vincent officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in New Hope North Cemetery. Visitation will be Fri., June 22, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. South died on Wed., June 20, 2012, at her residence.  She was born April 24, 1943, in Morgan County to Frank Hollis Cooper and Mattie Lorane Bates Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard South; and a granddaughter. Destiny South.

She is survived by two sons, Frankie South and wife Tina of Vinemont and Jason South of Falkville; five daughters, Rebecca Bagwell and husband Dewayne of Vinemont, Darlene Jacobs and Karen Burney and husband Chris, all of Falkville, and Vickie Kelso and husband Jonathan and Teresa Givens and husband Willie of Vinemont; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scott Sellers, Chad Adcock, Chase Rutherford, Jeremy Anders, Blake Givens, Zack South. Shaun Anders, Dachery Bagwell and Seth Dees.
