Darrel Ray Phillips

Decatur

Funeral service for Darrel Ray Phillips, 79, will be Tuesday, February 6,
2024 at 11:30 AM at First Bible Church with Bro. Jeff Montegudo, Bro. Paul
Cheshier and Bro. Steve Bateman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Phillips died on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at his residence.  He was
born July 11, 1944, in Virginia, to Robert Montague Phillips and Minnie
Lambert Phillips.

He was employed by General Electric as a maintenance supervisor, prior to
his retirement. He also was a Facility Manager for and retired from First
Bible Church of Decatur after 15 years of service.

His parents preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to the Mission Fund of
First Bible Church or to Samaritan’s Purse.

Survivors include wife Sandra K. Phillips; sons Anthony M. Woods (Stephanie) and Christopher W. Woods (Tonya); daughter Sharon Puckett (Ron); brother Robert Phillips (Jane); sisters- Reba Griffith, Mildred Artrip and Charlotte Parsons; eight grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Corey Chambers, Caleb Puckett, Bobby Puckett, Anthony Woods, Chris Woods and Ron Puckett.
 

 

Charles O. Nolen  

A funeral service for Charles O. Nolen will be Monday, February 5, 2024 at 1:00PM at Peck Funeral Home with burial at Herring Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. Mr. Nolen was born on August 26, 1934 in Franklin County to Bonnie and Ora Nolen. He died on Friday, February 2, 2024 at his residence. Charles Nolen was a member of West Hartselle Baptist Church since 1958. Mr. Nolen was a proud Veteran and a Loving husband. He loved Gardening and could work in the yard all the time. Charles Nolen loved his dogs, loved to travel, and loved his church where he served as a deacon for many years. Mr. Nolen was preceded in death by his parents Bonnie and Ora Nolen, Brothers Hershel Nolen and J.R. Nolen, and sisters Estelle Naylor and Velma Drane. Survivors include: Wife: Janie S. “Ginger” Nolen Nieces and Nephews that he treated like his own children: Suzanne Stephenson, Jennifer Garner, Fred Stephenson, Wanda, Rickey, Linda, Diane, Larry, Teresa, Paula, and Pam. Pallbearers will be: Fred Stephenson, Jeff Garner, Stratton Garner, Stedman Garner, Jeff Woodruff, and James Bell. 

 

 

Cody Allen Pump  

Funeral Service for Cody Allen Pump, 36, will be Monday. February 5, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Pastor Richie Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Pump passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024. He was born on Tuesday, September 15, 1987, in Etowah County to Roger Allen Pump and Marry Lynette Hooper Pump. 

He was an avid Auburn football fan, enjoyed golfing, vacations at the beach, and restoring automobiles. He loved his family and friends and especially loved Everleigh and Gabriel so much. 

He was preceded in death by his father- Roger Allen Pump, his 1st cousin- Hunter Griffith, cousin- Phillip Hubbard, and his grandparents. 

Survivors include his mother- Lynnette Pump and sister Shanna Nichols.  

 

 

Tammy Alred Bruton

Hartselle

Funeral service for Tammy Alred Bruton, 55, of Hartselle, will be Monday,
February 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home with Pastor Lavanul
Sherrill and Pastor Shane Britt officiating. Burial will be at Salem
Cemetery.
Ms. Bruton died on February 2, 2024. She was born February 11, 1968, in
Morgan County to Clifford Gerald Alred and Rebecca Evelyn Grace Atkins
Alred. Tammy was a God-fearing woman, and a faithful witness. She was a
member of Sanctuary Community Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Tammy was a member of the Bee Line Classis and Cruisers. She was a loving
mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family. She was
preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Charlotte Ann Scott; and a
nephew, Dustan Lee Parker.

Survivors Include one son Alan Bruton (Taylor); one daughter Rachel Long (John); partner Tim Miller; one stepson Blake Miller; one stepdaughter Savannah Miller; two sisters, Michelle Alred
Sandra Robbins (Frankie); five grandchildren, Victoria Bruton, John Bruton, Jay Bruton, Amelia Bruton and Zeplyn Bruton; niece, Cami Bush; three nephews, Noah Clay Hill, Evan Alred and Bryan Parker.

Pallbearers will be Noah Clay Hill, Evan Alred, Caden Parker, John Long,
Terry Brooks and Blake Miller. 

 

 

Ronald Eugene Hood, Jr.

Funeral service for Ronald Eugene Hood, Jr., 70, will be Wednesday, February
7, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Richie
officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Lawrence Cove
Cemetery.
Mr. Hood died on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at North Alabama Specialty
Hospital.  He was born Thursday, July 23, 1953, in Pontiac Michigan,  to
Ronald Eugene Hood, Sr. and Bernice Adell Orlick Hood.
He enjoyed fishing and loved to ride to Tennessee to get scratch-offs. He
was baptized and attended Lawrence Cove Baptist Church as health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Hood and father, Ronald
Hood, Sr. a sister, Gloria Kelsey and a daughter, Tina.

Survivors include his son Ronald Hood, III; sister, Patricia Pike; brother, David Penoyer; two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family & friends. 

 

 

Nancy Porter Copeland

Hartselle

A Memorial service for Nancy Porter Copeland, 64, will be Sunday, February
11, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home
directing.  Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery at a later
date.
Ms. Copeland died on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Hospice Family Care.  She
was born December 8, 1959, in Cullman County, to Guy Junior Porter and Ruby
Alice Moore Porter.

She was a loving daughter, who loved working in the yard. She was always
friendly and always told her family “I Love You” often. Nancy was employed
by General Electric on the Assembly line, prior to her retirement.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Ruby Porter and her brother, James
Freddy Porter.

Survivors include her father, Guy Junior Porter and many extended family
and friends. 

 

 

Irvin “Irv” Howard Dingus

Decatur

Irvin “Irv” Howard Dingus, 90, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at
his residence.  He was born May 5, 1933, in Wise County, Virginia,  to
Samuel Dingus and Amanda Morefield.  There will be a Memorial Service held
out of state at a later date.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran sho served as a Master Sargeant,
prior to his retirement and was a Business Administrator and Facilities
Manager for the First Baptist Church in Kingsfort, Virginia before moving to
Alabama.

Survivors include his wife Louise McClary Dingus; sons, Richard Bouchillon, Bill Bouchillon, Clinton Bouchillon and Andrew Bouchillon; daughters, Sheilla Dingus and Wendi Orenstein; grandchildren, Richard Bouchillon, Jr, Lindsey Krajeck, Kadison Orenstein, Brad Orenstein, Adam Orenstien, Kate Bouchillon, Ward Bouchillon, Ian Bouchillon, Alden Bouchillon; Godson Brook Gholston, Jr. And God-daughter Charlie Gholtson.  

 

 

Vera Nell Sivley Steelman

Somerville

A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Vera Nell Sivley Steelman,
80, will be Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Center Springs  with
Dr. Michael Mason officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Ms. Steelman passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at her residence.  She
was born April 20, 1943, in Morgan County, to Walter Rudolph Sivley and
Vera Arlene Dunaway Sivley.
She was employed by Technology Molded Plastics TMP, working on the Assembly
Line and in Quality Control, prior to her retirement. She was a member of
Center Springs United Methodist Church where she served in the United
Methodist Women’s Association for her church and taught Sunday School for
many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, an avid quilter and
served as the Secretary/ Treasurer for S.A.V.E.S. (Somerville Area Volunteer
Emergency Services) for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Walter Van Sivley and
Joe L. Sivley.

Survivors include daughters Deana Borden (Rickey) Pamela Nelms (David); grandchildren – Devin Solomon (Johnathan), Trevor Borden (Morgan) Kelsey Borden

Pallbearers will be Wally Steelman, Robert Freeman, Mike Graveman, Rusty
White, Johnathan Solomon and Trevor Borden.

Mary Fowler Maxwell

Somerville

Funeral service for Mary Fowler Maxwell, 81, will be Wednesday, February 7,
2024 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Larkin officiating
and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Antioch Methodist Church
Cemetery. 
Mrs. Maxwell passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Decatur Morgan
Hospital.  She was born February 14, 1942, in Morgan County to William
Porter Fowler and Grace Lavana Baker.

She was employed by Redstone Arsenal in the Department of Defense as a
Government Accountant and Project Analyst, prior to her retirement. She was
a member of Union Church of Christ, a member of the American Society of
Women Accountants (ASWA), a member of the Association of Government
Accountants (AGA) and a member of the American Society of Military
Controllers (ASMC).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jack Maxwell, a daughter,
Traci Ager, her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Saint and Ray and her
parents.

Survivors include daughter Cindy Lackey (Rickey); Brother – Carlton Fowler (Netia); grandchildren- Victoria Lackey (Zac Pate – Fiance) and Payne Russell and Son-in-law – Jay Ager

Pallbearers will be Tim Bradford, Matthew Bradford, Dusty Gullion, Glenn

Tina Drinkard Briscoe

Falkville

Funeral service for Tina Drinkard Briscoe, 58, will be Friday, February 9,
2024 at 7:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home
directing.
Mrs. Briscoe passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Cullman Regional
Medical Center.  She was born July 30, 1965, in Cullman County, to Bobby
Wayne Drinkard and Norma Ann Kyle Drinkard.

She was employed by Chrysler Corporation, working in Assembly, prior to her
passing. She enjoyed crafting, tanning, swimming and loved her family with
all of her heart, especially her grandson.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Debra Drinkard Helms.

Survivors include her Husband – Billy Briscoe; daughter – Felecia King (Ethan); sister – Cindy Drinkard Peak (Jeff); grandson – Tripp Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

 

Lucille Fowler Cobbs  

FALKVILLE 

A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Lucille Fowler Cobbs, 101, will be Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Falkville City Cemetery with Pastor Tim Kinney officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation is scheduled. 

Mrs. Cobbs died on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born October 19, 1922, in Morgan County, to Henry Starling Fowler and Fannie Blevins Fowler. She was a homemaker for her family, was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Neman N. Cobbs; her parents; her brothers, William Fowler, Willard Fowler, Wilton Fowler and Willis Fowler and sisters, Louise Bowling, Loella McDonald, Lora McDonald and Lorene Peck. 

Survivors include two sons, Keith Cobbs (Ginger) and Vandon Cobbs (Rebecca); daughter, Pat Kennedy; five grandchildren, Adam Cobbs, Jeremy Mauldin (Emily), Dustin Cobbs, Kelsey Cobbs, Nathaniel Cobbs; three great-grandchildren, Madison Cobbs, Kanyon Cobbs and Kaden Cobbs. 

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. 

 

David Test
Athens

David Test, 65, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Athens-Limestone
Hospital.  He was born August 26, 1958. He was employed at the Lurleen B.
Wallace Center as a Supervisor, prior to his passing. He loved Alabama
Football, fishing, enjoyed riding though the parks and watching the
wildlife.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Margarett Test in 2010 and
his parents.
Survivors include domestic partner Mitzi Cottongin; brothers- Charles Test (Martha) and Richard Test (Glenda); nephew – Adam Test; niece – Sheila Test. 

 

Irvin Howard Dingus

Decatur

Irvin Howard Dingus (Irv) was born May 5, 1933, to Samuel Dingus and Amanda
Morefield Dingus in Appalachia, Virginia. He died peacefully on February
4th, 2024, in his home surrounded by family and friends.  He was a beloved
husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who was a pillar of
strength, integrity, and patriotism in his community.

He was predeceased by his brothers David, Earl, Charles (Jo Ann), and
Bill(Lisa) and his sisters Elizabeth (Talby) and Betty, his nephews Eddie
Wayne, Randy, West, Denny, and his niece Patti. He is survived by his wife
Louise, his daughters Sheilla Dingus and Wendi (Gary) Orenstein, and his
sons: Rick, Bill, Clinton (Joanne) and Andrew (Allison) Bouchillon.
Especially dear to him are his beloved grandchildren – Lindsey and Bo
Bouchillon, Leanna Trimmer, Kadie, Brad, and Adam Orenstein, Kate, Ward,
Ian, and Alden Bouchillon, great grandchildren Dillon and Lily, and
Godchildren, Brook Jr. and Charlie and their parents Keisha and Brook
Gholston.  His memory is cherished by his many nephews and nieces – Gail,
Sam (Michelle), Sabrina, Trista, Lora, Jerry (Linda), Shannon, Sheila Ann,
Connie, Carrie, Dawneen, Charlie, Randy, Ryan, Scott and Laura, and special
friend Hilton Holland.

Growing up in Bloomingdale, Tenn., Irv graduated from Blountville High
School in 1951.  Following high school, he enlisted in United States Air
Force in 1951, dedicated 20 years of his life serving around the world, and
retired in 1971 with distinguished honors. After retiring from the Air
Force, Irv earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration
from Steed College in Johnson City, Tenn. As a member of the First
Baptist Church family in Kingsport, Tenn., he served as business
administrator/facilities manager for 19 years.  He especially loved the
people of First Baptist and treasured the time he served there. Irv was an
active member of the American Legion more than 50 years. He particularly
valued his service in the Honor Guard. His commitment to Post 15 in Decatur,
Alabama brought him much joy and many happy times.

Irv played basketball, volleyball, and softball for numerous military base
teams while serving in the Air Force, traveling to many bases in and out of
the country. He also enjoyed playing on recreational and church league teams
in Kingsport, Tenn. As a result of his passion, skill, and enjoyment of
sports, he continued to promote sportsmanship while coaching children,
youth, and adult recreational teams, and he organized ball teams and leagues
too numerous to list.

The family will gather to celebrate Irv’s life in the Smoky Mountains in
Tennessee at a later date. Irvin Howard Dingus will be remembered not only
for his remarkable military career, dedication to his family and community,
and love for sports and the Tennessee Vols, but most importantly for the
enduring impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. 

 

Michael E. Garner
Hartselle

A Graveside Funeral service and interment for Michael E. Garner, 62, will be
Monday, February 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery with Bro. Equator
Black officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Garner died on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Cullman Regional Medical
Center.  He was born January 4, 1962, in Morgan County,  to Warren Alexander
Garner and Betty Walker Prince.
He was employed at Bob’s Pawn Shop as a clerk, prior to his passing. He was
a kind and loving individual, was very generous and willing to help
everyone. He had a passion for NASCAR Racing. He knew all the drivers and
could share about them with lots of knowledge. He enjoyed going to church. His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother – Betty Walker Prince; brothers- Joe Garner and Rex Ward; sister – Sherry Robinson (Kevin); aunt – Patricia Harris; uncle – Sim Garner.
Pallbearers will be family and friends 

 

 

WyVaughn Trent “W.T.” Smith  

EVA — Funeral service for WyVaughn Trent “W.T.” Smith, 72, will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Ward and Bro. Randy Sellers officiating, and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, from noon to 2:00 p.m., at Rock Creek Baptist Church. 

Mr. Smith died on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1951, in Morgan County, to Irmel Lafaye Smith and Doris Helen Gatlin Smith. 

He was employed by YRC Trucking as a Truck Driver, prior to his retirement. He was a United States Marine Veteran and served in the Vietnam War and was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and he enjoyed farming. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Enhabit Hospice for all their help and kindness during his long battle with Parkinson’s especially Millie and Tina. 

Survivors include his wife, Robbie Spratlin Smith; sons, Jason Smith (Jessica), Jeremy Smith (Julie), and Joshua Smith; brother, Darvin Smith (Vicki); sisters, Wendy Shaddix (Elton) and Lori Chaffin; four grandchildren, Audrey Smith, Alaina Smith, Cole Smith and Carly Grace Smith; and faithful companion, Frodoe. 

Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Jeremy Smith, Joshua Smith, Cole Smith and Elton Shaddix. 

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations be made to Enhabit Hospice or to the Parkinson’s Foundation. 

 

 

Katherine Woods Collier

Trinity

Katherine Woods Collier, 92, died on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Decatur
Morgan Hospital.  She was born April 15, 1931, in Morgan County, to Fred
Baxter Woods and Claire Bell Woods.

She was a homemaker for her family, a wonderful wife, mother and
grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her son, Glenn Edwards, daughters, Linda
Collier, Cathy Hill and Kimberly Kay Collier, grandsons, Adam and Terry
Cole, brothers, Felton Woods and Fred Woods, sisters, Magalene Melson,
Lorene Parker and Ann Smith, granddaughter, Christin Hoehn and grandson,
Dawson Knoblauch.

Survivors include her usband Kenneth Grissom; sons, Bobby Wren, Coy Wren and Scottie Collier; daughter, Martha Cole; 18 grandchildren 29 great-grandchildren.

No Services are scheduled at this time. 

 

Stephen Brown 

Mr. Brown died on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his residence. He was born February 22, 1954, in Morgan County where he spent his younger years. He had many fond memories of childhood. He laughed a lot about adventures with his Mawmaw and Papa, aunts, uncles, cousins and brother. As a teenager, he played many sports, but loved wrestling on the Lee High School team the most. 

Serving in the Army, he was proud of his training in the military and being stationed in Augsburg, Germany. 

He was very sharp, intelligent and a natural leader. After returning from overseas, he attended and graduated from Athens State University.  He excelled and dedicated much of his life to his career in government contracts and procurement where he developed lifelong friendships. He served as President, CFO and in other executive roles with various companies. 

However, his most successful role was undoubtedly as a loving father. No matter what he went through in life, his daughters always knew they were loved and vice versa. 

Steve lit up when talking about friends and loved ones. It could change his whole demeanor. Even if he had not seen someone in 20+ years, he could tell you a story that would point out their best qualities and his love for them. His heart was so big. He was at his very best when he was able to help someone and did so often. 

Steve was a handful with at least 9 lives, and he used them ALL! He loved cars, especially the fast and loud kind, but would not shy away from a boat or truck either. He also loved Alabama football, fishing and music. 

Steve’s smile, laugh, witty jabs, jokes, heartfelt and hilarious stories, unwavering support, advice and most importantly his love will be remembered and missed more than words could possibly say. 

Steve is survived by his daughters, Korri (Phillip) Dutton and Leslie Brown; Grandchildren, Ember (Chad) Hill, Clayton, Sage, Sierra, Colton, Cash, Lane and Reed Dutton; Great Grandchild, Hollis; Brother, Tim (Jennifer) Brown; and Nephews, Temon and Hoyt Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Brown and Helen Brown, and stepmother Lucille Brown; Grandparents, Temon Cam and Clara Hattie Morgan Brown and Thurston James and Hester Viola Borden. 

Pallbearers will be Phillip, Clayton and Colton Dutton and Tim, Hoyt and Temon Brown. 

Visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, from noon until 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle. Mr. Brown will be laid to rest at Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery at 3 p.m. 

 

 

Kimberly Hughes
Moulton

Funeral service for Kimberly Hughes, 57, will be Sunday, February 11, 2024

and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery
(Cullman Co.)
Mrs. Hughes passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at her residence.  She
was born January 4, 1967, in Walker County, to Billy Marlin Hunt and Terrie
L. Price Hill.
She was a homemaker for her family, was a wonderful wife and mother.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Michael Wilson, her father, and her
stepfather, Shirl Hill, and her best friend, Janet Emrico.
Survivors include her mother, Terrie L. Hill; son, Colton Hughes; daughter, Sommer Wilson; sister, Amber Hill (Dale Morgan); four grandchildren Serenity Jeffreys, Harmony Jeffreys,
Aubrey Anderton and Cayden Anderton; nephew, Marshall Morgan and best friend, Jeffrey Sherrill.

Linnette “Linn” Golden

Funeral service for Linnette “Linn” Golden, 75, of Decatur will be
Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Westmeade Baptist Church in Decatur
with Brother Justin McAlpin officiating with burial in the Midway Memorial
Gardens Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mrs. Golden, who was born June 12, 1948, in Indiana to Roland Merritt Smith
and Josephine Jeanette Wallace Smith, died on Saturday, February 10, 2024,
at her home in Decatur. Linn was a member of the Westmeade Baptist Church,
enjoyed being a Ma Ma and searching her family tree and was a child of God
and loved her Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents; James and Esther
Wallace and F. Ralph and Lura Smith and a brother-in-law; Dennis Sewell.
Survivors Include her husband of 54 years; Charles Larry “Chuck” Golden, son,
Aaron David Golden (Sonia); daughter, Kristina Linn Golden; brother, Ryan
Matthew Smith (Sherry); two sisters, Leeandra Smith Sewell Lorriann Smith
Benson (Bradley): two grandchildren, Kaelan Sanhi Golden and Serena Prem
Golden and several nephews and nieces.
