Prep football roundup: Brewer gets win over Danville to close season

The Brewer Patriots closed their season with a 56-14 win over visiting Danville to finish with a 4-6 record.

The Patriots scored two touchdowns every quarter on their way to the season-ending victory. They led 28-0 at halftime and 42-7 at the end of the third quarter.

Cason Oden finished 8-of-11 for 151 yards and a touchdown, but it was the rushing game that led the team. The Patriots ran for 208 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. Connor Kirby had 55 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Julian Nicholson had 52 yards and a touchdown. DJ Burney had 37 yards and two touchdowns.

Will Clemons had 42 yards receiving and a touchdown, while Austyn Holmes had 52 yards receiving.

Winston County 27, Falkville 6

The Falkville Blue Devils closed the season with a 27-6 loss to Winston County to finish 4-6.

Winston County led 13-0 at the half and was up 21-0 early in the fourth quarter. Falkville finally got on the scoreboard with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Landon Powers to Kole Fitzgerald. The Yellow Jackets added a final touchdown to make the final score 27-6.

The Blue Devils were held to a season-low 154 yards of offense in the loss, including only 57 yards on the ground.
