Betty Jane Mills
Huntsville

A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Betty Jane Mills, 76, will be
Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville,
with Bro. Todd Windsor officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No
visitation is scheduled.
Mrs. Mills died on Friday, October 6, 2023 at River City Health and Rehab.
She was born November 13, 1946, in Morgan County, to William Murray and
Maybelle Parker Murray.  She was a plant worker, working on the assembly
line, prior to her retirement.
Preceded in death by her husband: Carl Mills, her parents, and a brother:
Lester Wayne Murray.
Survivors include a brother – William Donnie Murray (Andrea); nieces – Crystal Humphrey (Malcolm), Kimberly Lopez (Danny), Tammy Gullion, Katelyn Murray; Nephew – Christopher Murray.  

 

 

Wilta “June” Walling
Hartselle

Funeral service for Wilta “June” Walling, 80, will be Monday, October 9,
2023 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steven Cannon and
Bro. Mark Milwee officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be
in Falkville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Walling died on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
She was born January 29, 1943, in Morgan County, to Demetrius Judson Lindsey
and Alma Dora Childers.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Falkville, where she enjoyed
teaching a Sunday School Class. She was employed by Hartselle City Schools,
as a Lunchroom Manager, prior to her retirement.
Preceding her in death were her husband: Eddie Walling, her parents and two
brothers, Dexter and Ricky Lindsey.
Survivors include Daughter – Christy Hill (Alton); Sons – Scott Walling (Jill) and Clint Walling (Bridget); Brother – Ronnie Lindsey; Sisters- Wanda Woodruff and Melba Puryear; Grandchildren Jacob Walling (Teagan), Emily Hill, Alex Walling and Ellie Cate Hill; Great Grandchildren Waylon Walling and Rhett Walling
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
Family would like to say a “special thanks” to the staff at Columbia

Adrian Brian Clemons 

Falkville 

A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 11:00 Am to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM in the chapel. Interment will be at Cook Cemetery. Brother Milan Dekich will be officiating and Peck Funeral Home handling the arrangements. 

Adrian Brian Clemons of Falkville passed away Saturday morning, October 7, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital at the age of 21. He was born January 23, 2002 in Morgan County to Justin and Christina Clark Clemons. He loved music from his favorite bands Three Days Grace, Seether and System of a Down, to name a few. He was a lover of art, holidays and the beach. He was an avid gamer and absolutely loved his family most of all. Adrian was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ronda Clark and grandfather, David Clemons. 

He is survived by his parents, one sister, Andy Clemons; Grandparents, Rita Clemons and Ron Wilson; Great Grandmothers, Jean Wilson and Betty Clemons and Many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Pall Bearers will be family and friends. 

 

 

 

Carolyn Ann Murphy Schooley  

Lacey Springs 

 

Graveside Memorial Service for Carolyn Ann Murphy Schooley, 87 of Lacey Springs, AL will be Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 2:00PM at Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home assisting the family.  Mrs. Schooley was born July 30, 1936, in Morgan County, to Leroy Murphy and Pearl Agnes Miller Murphy.  She was a Member of Cotaco Methodist Church.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her Parents, Son, Nicholas Gene Schooley. Brother, Harold Murphy.  She loved her family and was family Oriented, well Liked.  She loved flowers.  

Survivors include Son-Roger Schooley (Penny); Daughter-Lisa Clemons (Stephen); 6 Grandchildren-Lorrie Zierer (Michael), Jarrod Schooley (Ashley), Heath Schooley, Ashley Schooley, Stephanie Liles (Joey), Joshua Schooley; 7 Great-Grandchildren-Harley Childers, Candice Zierer, Michael Schooley, Emma Zierer, Cypres Liles, Harper Schooley, Carson Liles; 2 Great-Grandchildren-Dakota Childers and William Childers.

Selena Ann McGee  

A visitation for Selena Ann McGee will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home. Brother Fred Childs will be officiating. Peck Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Selena passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital at the age of 44 years old. She was born to Cecil Larry and Marilyn Farr McGee at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, AL on May, 3, 1979. Selena grew up in Danville worked at Danville Grocery. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil “Humpy” McGee, Wyoma McGee, Omie Farr, James Farr and her father Larry McGee. 

Survivors include Husband: Markenndrick Alghaneel Son: Marlon Collier, Jr. “MJ”; Mother: Margaret McGee; Sister: Pam Leach (James); Uncle: Rodney Farr; Aunt: Betty McGee; Cousin: Missy Oliver (Tommy); Cousin: Marti Orr.  

 

 

Mary Frances Shaneyfelt Burden  

Hartselle  

On Monday, October 9, 2023, Mary Frances Shaneyfelt Burden of Hartselle began her eternal life in glory with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 91. 

A lifelong resident of Morgan County, Frances was born on February 29, 1932, to Herbert and Annie Shaneyfelt. She was the last living sibling in a family of four brothers: Carl, Cline, Lester and Harold Shaneyfelt, and two sisters: Elvie Collins and Ruth Livingston. 

 Frances was a loving wife of 57 years to the late Charles Burden, and the precious mother of one son and three daughters: Bill Burden (Karen) of Sedalia, Missouri, Anita Gelatt of Hartselle, Kathy Darby (Bill) of Decatur, and Becky Kirby (Jeff) of Hartselle. 

 In addition to her children, Frances is survived by nine grandchildren: Kim Gibson and husband Jonathan of Florette, Katy Peters and husband Shawn of Fort Madison, Iowa, Beth Gelatt of Hartselle, Amy Blackwood and husband Allen of Madison, Anna Lange and husband Matt of Sedalia, Missouri, Ben Darby and wife Keelin of Hartselle, Ashley and Shannon Kirby of Hartselle, and Zach Burden of Sedalia, Missouri. 

Frances is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Shawn Timothy, Victoria, Matthew, and Nathan Peters of Fort Madison, Iowa, Zoe and Elijah Gibson of Florette, and Atticus and Miriam Lange of Sedalia, Missouri. 

In addition to her parents, siblings, and husband, Frances was preceded in death by son-in-law Timothy Gelatt and grandson Timothy Gelatt Jr. both of Hartselle. 

  

The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital for their tender care of Frances during the last two weeks of her life. 

 A celebration of life visitation will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle from 7-9pm with a Graveside Service on Friday, October 13 at 1 pm at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Falkville with Brother Ken Blackwood officiating. 

 Pallbearers will be Bill Burden, Zach Burden, Bill Darby, Ben Darby, Jeff Kirby, and Shannon Kirby. 

 

 

 

Hollis F. James

Hartselle

Funeral service for Hollis F. James, 95, will be Friday, October 13, 2023 at
3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paige Maxwell McRight
officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be Friday,
October 13, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.  Please
respect family’s wishes of a private graveside in Jones Cemetery.
Mr. James died on Monday, October 9, 2023, at his residence.  He was born
February 14, 1928, in Morgan County, to Oliver Jewel James and Maggie Pearl
Wilcutt James.
Mr. James was a Band Director, for Morgan County High School, prior to his
retirement.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was
preceded in death by his parents. brothers: Bonnie James and Joel James and
sisters: Rozell Osborne and Vonell Kleinschmidt.
Survivors include his Wife – Jan James; Daughter – Cindy James; grandchildren Nick Johnson (Crystal),
Daniel Johnson and Caroline Johnson; Great Grandchild –
Sutton Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Nick Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Bob Kleinschmidt, Sid
Borland, Tim Nelson and Brian James.
  

 

 

Teresa Ann Haston  

Prattville 

Teresa Ann Haston, 63, a resident of Prattville, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2023. 

Graveside services were held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from Prattville Memory Gardens with Prattville Memorial directing. 

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Terrell and Margaret Golden and son, Terrell Graves. 

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Haston; daughter, Athena Haston; son, Thomas Graves; three grandchildren, Isabelle Haston, Mason Haston and Dixon Haston; three sisters, Pam Cornelius (Randy), Julie Stock (Lowell) and Susan James; extended family and many friends. 

 

 

 

Virginia Ruth Price

Decatur

Funeral service for Virginia Ruth Price, 86, will be Sunday, October 15,
2023 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dane Hayes and Don Collier
officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Ryan Baptist
Church Cemetery, in Joppa, Alabama.

Mrs. Price passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday,
October 10, 2023 at her residence.  She was born April 12, 1937, in Cullman
County,  to Albert Clyde Berry and Hazel Norma Mann Berry.

She was employed at Arab Hospital, prior to her retirement and was a Baptist
in her faith. She enjoyed birds, inside and outside gardening, flowers and
especially her chickens. She loved her family with all of her heart. Her
parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include
Husband of 70 years – Frank D. Price; Son – Michael David Price (Tina); Daughters – Beverly Ann Pirkle and Mary Joyce Marsh; Brother – Ronald Norman Berry
Six Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Lawrence, Scott Derrick, Johnathan Pirkle, Justin
Louallen, Joshua Price and Caleb Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, the ffamilyrequests donations be made to Hospice of the
Valley or to the Gideons.
 

 

 

Doyce Jean Johnson

Priceville

Doyce Jean Rosebrough Johnson died peacefully on Thursday, October 12,
surrounded by her loved ones.  She was 86.
She is survived by the love of her life and loving husband of sixty years,
Flavous Randolph Johnson, their daughter Kelly Johnson Fishburne and
son-in-law Eddie Fishburne of Raleigh, NC.
Jean grew up in Plevna, AL and graduated from New Market High School.  She
and Flavous met while she was working in Huntsville as a Telephone Operator
for South Central Bell. They got married in 1963 and built a home and life
together in Somerville, AL. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her
family and friends unconditionally.
Jean was never one to sit around and do nothing, she was always moving. She
enjoyed many years of yoga and loved spending time outside in nature.  She
spent hours walking the trails, that she designed, through the woods and
fields at their home on Center Springs Road.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Eliza Wilson and Homer
Rosebrough.  She leaves behind her sisters, Pat Stiles of Fayette, AL,
Barbara Kaeser (Ed) of Franklin, TN and Joan Slater (Hugh) of Social Circle,
GA.
Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday at Center Springs Church in
Somerville with visitation from 1pm-2pm at the church.  Burial in the
adjacent, Center Springs Cemetery will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, a tribute donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s
Association.
 

 

  

Rhonda Reeves Steelman
Hartselle

Visitation and Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023
from 10 a.m. until noon at East Highland Baptist Church. Interment will follow
at Midway Memorial Gardens. Brother Walter Blackmon will be officiating.
Rhonda Reeves Steelman, 64 of Hartselle, passed away on Wednesday, October
11th at her residence.
Survivors include father: Louie O’Neil Reeves, husband: Marty Steelman,
Children: Kassi Hill (Josh), Griffen Steelman (Jasmine) Grandchildren:
Kealeigh Hill and Lawcyn Hill Siblings: Kerry Reeves (Michelle), Marty
Reeves, Jamie Reeves and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Rhonda was a loving wife and mother. A devoted Christian. A person that will
be remembered for her wonderful sense of adventure and fun spirited nature.
Rhonda’s favorite thing to do was travel. She especially loved to travel
down to see and stay with her cousins and aunts. She loved a good card game
and would play for hours. She would jump at the opportunity to dress up and
buy a pair of shoes and matching jewelry. She had a contagious laugh, one
that you could hear all over North Alabama. But the most important thing to
Rhonda, is that she knew our Lord as her savior and personally experienced
God’s grace and mercy. Now to her greatest adventure yet, eternity with her
King.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Reeves and brother,
Gregory Reeves.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Reeves, Marty Reeves, Jamie Reeves, Griffen
Steelman, Lawcyn Hill and Josh Hill.
The family would like to send out a “Special Thanks” to Hospice of the
Valley. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice

William “Donnie” Murray  

Funeral service for William “Donnie” Murray, 70, will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Allison officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery in Town Creek, Alabama. Visitation will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. 

Mr. Murray passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at his residence. He was born October 26, 1952, in Lawrence County, to William Lester Murray and Mae Bell Parker Murray. He was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic for 3M Company, prior to his retirement. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Lester Wayne Murray and a sister, Betty Jane Mills. 

Survivors include his wife, Ann Murray; daughters, Crystal Humphrey (Malcolm), Kim Lopez (Danny), Tammy Gullion and Katelyn Murray; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and nephew, Chris Murray. 

Pallbearers will be family and friends. 

 

 

 

Douglas Duane Trent  

A memorial service for Douglas Duane Trent will be Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Peck Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Baker officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the funeral home. Mr. Trent was born on February 27, 1975 to Danny Trent and Jennifer Stephenson in Decatur, Alabama. Douglas died on October 10, 2023 at his residence in Knoxville, Tennessee. 

Douglas had a free spirit and a beautiful soul. He was a loving son, brother, and friend. Mr. Trent was a graduate of Hartselle High School and got his bachelor’s degree at UAH. Douglas was Preceded in death by his father: Danny Trent, Grandparents: Leta Garner Stephenson, James Wallace Stephenson, Peggy Reeder Trent, and Joe Daniel Trent. 

Survivors Include Life Partner: Lisa Bryson; Mother: Jennifer Stephenson; Stepdad: John Thomas Peck; Six Brothers: Isaac Peck (Amber), John Peck (Kim), Charles Peck (Sheila), Cecil Peck, Corey Peck, and Quentin Peck (Cherie); One Sister: Mary Peck (Dee) 

 

 

Ginger S. Dean 

Columbus, Ga.  

A graveside service for Ginger S. Dean, 80, of Columbus, Georgia will be held Friday, Oct. 20 at Hartselle City Cemetery at noon with Peck Funeral Home directing.  Mrs. Dean died Oct. 12 in Columbus, Ga. She was born May 26, 1943, in Morgan County, to Kyle Stover and Luna Williams Stover. 

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Brownie Dean of Columbus; a daughter, Dana Price and husband Greg of Omaha, Ne.; two sons, Paul Dean of Columbus, Ga. and Patrick Dean and wife Jackie of Southern Pines, NC; four grandchildren, Courtney Dean, Steven Dean, Cara Epps and Jon Ross Ingley, and a great grandchild Brooks Dean. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ginger’s name to Columbus Hospice of GA and AL on Moon Road. 

  

 

Judy Sisk McNutt
Somerville

A funeral service for Judy Sisk McNutt, 71, of Somerville, will be at
1:00PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Peck funeral home with Bro. Blake
McNutt officiating and Peck funeral home directing. Burial will be at
Hartselle City Cemetery. Judy McNutt was born on July 29, 1952 in Morgan County, Alabama to Calvin
and Darlene Hann Sisk. Mrs. McNutt passed away on October 13, 2023 in
Falkville at Danny and Misty’s home with loved ones by her side. She loved
everyone and loved her horse, Nikki. She is preceded in death by her
parents, three brothers: Jackie Sisk, Johnny Sisk, and Jeff Sisk and one sister:
Jean Billings.
Survivors include Two sons: Danny Hudgins (Misty) of Falkville, AL, and Steven Hudgins
(Amanda) of Somerville, AL; Three Sisters: Jennifer Sisk Moore of Hartselle, AL, Shelby Powell of
Somerville, AL, and Sandra Sisk Smith of Hartselle, AL.; Ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Robinson, Russell Brown, Jerry Dillard, Jackson
Hudgins, Leland Hudgins, and Kris Hudgins.
Honorary pallbearer will be Phillip Pope.
A special thanks to her daughter-in law Misty for taking care of her to the
end of life. Also special thanks to Aveanna Hospice for all they have done
for Ms. Judy and the family.
