James Spann inspires young meteorologists at Barkley Bridge Elementary School

It was a day filled with sunshine, both in the sky and in the hearts of Barkley Bridge Elementary School students when renowned weatherman James Spann paid a visit to share his passion for meteorology earlier this month. The charismatic meteorologist brought his wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for weather to the eager young minds, leaving an indelible mark on all who attended.

Spann captivated the students with his engaging presentation on the fascinating world of weather, according to school counselor Jamie Dutton. Spann didn’t just limit himself to the basics of sunshine and rain; he delved into the intricacies of weather patterns, severe weather events and took time to answer student questions.

It was exciting to see someone in person that I depended on my entire life for weather safety,” superintendent Dr. Brian Clayton said.

“James Spann is an excellent presenter,” Dutton added. “I enjoyed reading the children’s book he authored, Benny and Chipper: Prepared not Scared, to our students.”

Students and faculty dressed up for James Spann Day. Costumes included tornadoes, rainbows, sunshines, weather reporters in a storm, Alabama State Bird (trampoline), seasons, Spaghetti with a Chance of Meatballs, James Spann’s twin and more.
