Hartselle Jr. High football earns split with Muscle Shoals

The Hartselle Jr. High Tigers football teams earned a hard-fought split with Muscle Shoals at JP Cain Stadium last week.

The 7th grade team defeated the Trojans 14-6. The Tigers’ touchdowns were scored by Maddox Southern on a 55-yard run and Jamarius Jones on a 20-yard run. Dalton Terry added a two-point conversion.

“The defensive unit played well to help us get the win,” Hartselle Jr. High coach Chad Gladden said.”

Defenses dominated the eighth-grade game between the two teams. The Trojans scored a late touchdown to take a 6-0 win. The Tigers had a 72-yard touchdown pass from Zach Whaley to Aiden Pointer that would have tied the game, but it was called back due to a penalty with just under two minutes remaining.

“The eighth-grade game was a tremendous defensive game,” Gladden said. “Both teams made timely plays and stops when needed.”
