Eva reunion draws hundreds

Special to the Enquirer

The Eva High School Alumni Reunion was held June 25 in the Eva School gym with more than 200 people in attendance. The oldest alumnus, Freeda Hawkins Hudson, 98, class of 1942, was present, along with many other 90-year-old attendees who came back to reminisce with classmates and friends.

The Eva High School Alumni Association hosts the reunion every other year. Many who attended said the event this year was the best one so far. After the program, guests were invited to tour the school hallway where the restored class pictures from 1930-72 now hang, the engraved paver courtyard and the L. G. McDonald family home.

The association has expanded to include those who attended Eva High School while it was still a high school, from 1973-83.  Honorary members who helped plan and hold the reunion include Melissa Denise Holmes Ozbolt, Sharon Childers Sheppard, Nancy Hanvey Graves, Dale Nunnelley and Terry Poole. The class of 1969 also helped this year. The Eva High School Class of 1972 coordinates the event.
