Hartselle Parks and Recreation announces fall events

Hartselle Parks and Recreation has announced its fall event schedule. The schedule includes a variety of sports leagues and fall activities for the community.

The 39th Annual Depot Days Festival will take place Sept. 21. The festival will take place in downtown Hartselle, providing music, food trucks, a car show, children’s zone and more.

A fall craft class will take place Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Sparkman Civic Center. Participants will create a scarecrow porch sign. The class is $30 per project, which covers the cost of all supplies. Registration and payment must be received by Sept. 18.

Parks and Recreation will be bringing back the popular Kids in the Kitchen class over the fall break. The class is open to boys and girls ages 9-12 and is $20 per student. Students will prepare a breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert during the class. Payment and registration must be completed by Oct. 9, and early registration is recommended.

The Hartselle Shining Stars will hold a masquerade ball Oct. 18 from 6-8 p.m. The ball will take place at the Civic Center and will include music, karaoke and a costume contest. The ball is open to individuals with special needs and their immediate families. Costumes are not required but recommended. The ball is free to Shining Stars, but registration must be received by Oct. 11.

The Southern Market Days Flannel and Frost Vintage Christmas Market will take place Nov, 22-23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will welcome a variety of vendors, including farmhouse decor, boutique clothing, handmade items and more. Food trucks will be on site, and Santa will be available for pictures Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Civic Center will hold ladies’ aerobics classes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 8 a.m. in the back gym. The fee is $25 per month, and payment can be made the first day of the class.

The Civic Center holds Weight Watcher meetings every Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The Hartselle Senior Nutrition Center holds daily activities for seniors ages 55 and older, Monday through Friday from 9-11 a.m. Lunch is served daily, with a suggested donation of $1.25.
