Christian music concert benefit children for Christmas

Gerry Norton at McKendree United Methodist Church is helping to promote a fundraiser concert for Dec. 5 at the Sparkman Civic Center at 7 p.m.
We Are Vessel, a Christian rock group, will perform at 7 p.m. They are sponsored by an agency, Compassion in the Name of Jesus. All proceeds will go to local children for Christmas. Tickets will be $10 and are available at the following locations: Cheryl’s Barber Shop in Hartselle, Southern Sales and Service, Justin Tanner, 256-642-5808, and All American Tree Service and Excavation, Devon Jones, 256-502-9111. Ages 10 and younger will be admitted free.

Danville Hawks Sports News
J.J. Hill, head coach of the Danville varsity girls basketball team, is proud of last season’s record and of the returning team members and three freshmen teammates. Their upcoming home games are West Morgan, Dec. 7. at 4:30 p.m.; Winfield, Dec. 10. at 4 p.m.; Falkville, Dec. 11 at 4:30 p.m.; and Good Hope, Dec. 17 at 1:30 p.m.
Scott Ellis, head coach of the Danville Hawks boys varsity basketball team, is very proud of his team and the way that they support and encourage each other. Their upcoming home games are, West Morgan, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.; Winfield, Dec. 10 at 9:30 p.m.; and Falkville, Dec. 11 at 9:30 p.m.
Falkville Blue Devils Sports Activities
In a month, the Morgan County Basketball Tournament will be in progress, and Falkville’s varsity boys basketball coach Josh Scott will have his Blue Devils team competing.
Before that, they will face Decatur Heritage Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. and Lynn Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. These are two of their toughest foes.
The Falkville High School girls varsity basketball head coach is Jonathan Lacy. The Lady Blue Devils have home games Dec. 7 against Meek at 4 p.m. and Lynn Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
McAbee family welcomes new daughter
Jeremy and Leslie McAbee are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Millie Ann McAbee. Millie was born Oct. 16, and she weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 19.5 inches long. Her proud grandparents are Jerry and Janet Reynolds and Gerald and Regina McAbee, and her great-grandparents are Hazel Parker, Peggy Reynolds and Pat Franklin.
Baby Shower Announcement
There will be a baby shower for Jada Keeton Dec. 2 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church. She has selections at Target and Amazon. It’s a girl!
Mt. Zion Baptist Church News
Mt. Zion Baptist Church members and guests enjoyed their annual Thanksgiving potluck meal Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. Loraine Cost, who is usually director of the event, was out of town, so the event was arranged by Carolyn Puckett. Their Thanksgiving worship service was Nov. 25 at 10:45 a.m.
Falkville library board holds meeting
The Falkville Public Library Board met Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. in the office conference room. Rhona Summerford, Pam MacDonald and Jenny Asherbranner wrote additional projects for the five- year plan proposed at the previous meeting.

Jenny Asherbranner, librarian, presented the revised plan, and it was accepted by a unanimous vote. The plan will be sent to the Alabama Public Library Service.
The board members planned their Christmas party for Dec. 7, a meal at the Cracker Barrel at 5:30 p.m. Members also made plans to attend Christmas in the Park Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there from 3-5 p.m. for photos.

The Community Pride group sponsors the Christmas program, carol singing, Falkville High School Band, tree lighting and hot chocolate and cookies. The president of the women’s groups is Tina Rogers. Tina is also a Library Board member.
Corinth West Baptist Church Thanksgiving News
The Community Thanksgiving Service at Corinth West Baptist Church Nov. 18 included the following churches: Friendship Baptist (Upshaw), Mt. Vernon Methodist, Ebenezer Baptist, Oak Grove, Panama Baptist, Pleasant View Holy Church of Christ, Macedonia Baptist, Corinth West Methodist and Piney Grove Methodist, all introduced by the Rev. Glenn Miller.
The Rev. Wayne Jetton gave the invocation. The praise and worship service was led by Taylor Emerson; the Rev. Mike Lansford gave the message; and the Rev. Glenn McCain led the blessing for the food and benediction.
The Corinth Church hosts provided ham and turkey for the fellowship meal, and other church members brought sides and desserts.
