Falkville native and Madison Cross Roads kindergarten teacher Allison Saint Albert was named the district’s teacher of the year during Madison County Schools’ Excel awards event.

Albert received a new computer, an interactive panel and a stand for her classroom as part of her recognition. She also advances to the North Alabama region to be considered for additional recognition.

“It is truly humbling to be chosen as an outstanding teacher in a field of so many outstanding professionals,” Albert said. “I have wanted to be a kindergarten teacher since I was 5 years old, so I am so honored to be able to represent my school and district at the next level.”

In a statement, Madison County School Superintendent Matt Massey called teaching “one of the most noble professions you can choose.”

“t’s fitting our Elementary Teacher of the Year impacts the lives of kindergartners,” Massey said.

Albert has been part of the Madison Cross Roads staff for nine years.
“I was nominated by other teachers at my school. Then a school level committee voted between the nominations,” Albert said. “They announced me as the school winner at in-service, then I had to write three essays, a resume and an interview (to be considered for) the county winner, and it was judged by a committee of central office personnel, board members and business leaders in Huntsville.

Albert is a 2004 graduate of Falkville High School, and she graduated from the University of North Alabama with her master’s degree in 2009. She was awarded Miss UNA in 2008.
