The Priceville town council voted to donate $10,000 to Priceville High School for educational purposes during its regular meeting Monday night.

Members of the council said they were pleased the town is in such a positive financial standing to be able to give back to the community and the education system in the town.

Resolution No. 2017-21 was passed toward the end of the night Monday. It stated:

“The town council of the Town of Priceville finds that it is appropriate and in the public interest for the town, when reasonably possible, to support the public education of its residents attending public schools within the town. Whereas, the town council further finds that the request received from the principal is reasonable, within the means and resources of the Town, and is in furtherance of either improved facilities or support for the public education of its citizens. Now, therefore, be it resolved by the town council … They authorize the mayor to distribute $10,000 from the general fund.”

Mayor Melvin Duran said he and the councilmembers are very excited to be able to fulfill needs at the local schools, and they hope to be able to continue to work with them in the future.
