Danville’s star point guard Tara Tuck added another huge accomplishment to her growing list this past week when she broke a state record, and nobody even knew it. Tuck broke the state record for single game assists with 20 during the Lady Hawk’s 72-63 win over R.A. Hubbard. The previous record was 18. Nobody realized her accomplishment until Danville’s head coach Paul Wilson reviewed the game state and film. “I looked at the stats and it said 20 assists and thought it must have been a mistake.” Wilson said. “So I went back and watched every single one of them myself.”

Tuck has been a staple of Danville girl’s basketball as she is the only player to start five straight years, but even she didn’t see this coming. “I was really excited when I found out I broke the record. I never thought I would do something like that.” Tuck said. “I’ve been blessed with a team that can run the floor and finish the passes I give them. I couldn’t have done it without my team.” Tuck also got her 500th career assist in the Lady Hawk’s win over Brewer. She now sits at 549.

Tuck and Danville just finished the regular season with a 63-62 win over East Lawrence to improve to 21-6 on the season. The Lady Hawks are on a six game winning streak since losing in a tight game to Hartselle in the county tournament. Danville will play Priceville in the area tournament at West Limestone on February 7th at 6 p.m.
