It was a wild game this past Saturday night when Hartselle and West Morgan squared off for the Morgan County softball championship. The two teams had already faced each other twice in the tournament with Hartselle taking the win in the first game and West Morgan getting the second. The tiebreaker promised to be a special game with plenty of action.

West Morgan took the lead in the first to try to set the tone of the game. Goodpastor would score to make the score 1-0. Terry would then blast a three run homerun to give the Rebels a 4-0 lead.

Hartselle would answer in the next inning. Lindsey Robinson and Mary Jane Wooley would both score on bases loaded walks to cut the lead to 4-2. Sara Faulk would score later on a wild pitch to cut the score to 4-3 at the end of the top of the second.

However, West Morgan would surge back ahead largely due to a three run homerun from Sydney Sanders as the Rebels took an 8-3 lead at the end of the second.

West Morgan would continue to score as they headed into the fourth with a 10-4 lead.

However, Hartselle wasn’t done yet as they began to climb back in the game. Cain would hit a double to allow Bailey Powell and Brooklyn Wallace to score. Anna Stinson would score on an error and cut the Rebels lead to 10-7. Wallace would help cut it even father in the fifth by hitting a double to allow Powell to score.

West Morgan would add three more runs in the bottom of the fifth as they now held the lead 13-8.

A two run homerun from Kalli Cartee would cut the lead to 13-10. Wooley would then score on an error to cut the lead to 13-11.

Hartselle would head into the final inning with a chance to tie the game or perhaps take the lead, but they would go three up and three down. Hartselle would lose the game and the county championship to West Morgan
