Danville sweeps three doubleheaders

It was a big week last week for the Danville Hawks as they played in three doubleheaders with West Point, Fairview and Priceville. The Hawks swept all six games.

The first doubleheader would be with the West Point Warriors. The Hawks would score 4 runs in the first two innings and then another 5 in the sixth to cruise to a 9-4 win. Dalton Parker led the Hawks with 3 hits while Landon Tidwell had 4 RBIs. Hunter Brown took the win on the mound with 13 first pitch strikes and 1 strikeout.

The second game would be closer. The Hawks wouldn’t get the same hit production but great pitching by Parker would help them take the win. The Hawks would get a single run in the third, fifth and seventh innings to take a 3-1 lead. Carson Owens led in hits and RBIs with 2 and 3 respectively. Parker got the pitching win with 11 first pitch strikes and 8 strikeouts.

The second doubleheader would have the Hawks taking on Fairview out of Cullman. Danville would take a 4-0 lead after the second inning. However, Fairview would come back to take a 5-4 lead after the fifth inning. Danville would tie the game 5-5 in the seventh inning and then go on to win the game in extra innings 6-5. Parker led the Hawks with 2 hits while Tidwell led with 3 RBIs. Carson Owens got the win on the mound with 22 first pitch strikes and 5 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Hawks turned on their bats and outhit Fairview 14-5 en route to a 10-4 win. Weston Krohe led the Hawks with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Mason Little had 2 hits and 2 RBIs while Parker had 2 hits. Krohe got the win on the mound 19 first pitch strikes and 5 strikeouts.

In the last doubleheader, Danville would take on Priceville. The Hawks would get three runs in the third inning and go on to win 3-1. Jackson Locklear led with 2 hits while Tidwell had 2 RBIs. Parker got the pitching win with 14 first strike pitches and 5 strikeouts.

Danville would light it up in the last game as they defeated Priceville 17-7. Mason Little led the Hawks with 3 hits and 5 RBIs. Tidwell got the pitching win with 16 first pitch strikes and 3 strikeouts.
