Avoid Being Tempted

Temptation: the act of tempting; enticement or allurement. Something that tempts, entices or allures. In I Corinthians 10:13 Paul encourages the Corinthians about resisting temptation: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but with the temptation also making a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Temptation does not affect just a select few, it happens to everyone. We must first recognize the things that give us trouble, choose the only thing you can do, pray for God’s help. Also, when you are tempted seek friends that can offer their help. (See I Timothy 6:11) But thou, O man of God flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. (II Timothy 2:22) Flee also youthful lusts; but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

If you find yourself in a recurring temptation, you must remove yourself from the situation. With God’s help and avoiding a tempting situation, you are on your way to victory.
