It was a rematch as the Hartselle Tigers traveled to West Point to take on the Warriors for the second time this season.

Hartselle would jump out to a quick lead early. The Tigers would utilize great passing to take a 20-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.  Hartselle would continue to hold the edge over West Point in the second but just couldn’t get out of their own way to blow the game open. Multiple errors bogged the Tigers down such as missed passes and free throws, missed shots, and turnovers as well as being blocked inside. However, the Tigers would manage to keep the lead 30-19 going into halftime.

The third quarter would begin some problems for the Tigers. West Point would take advantage of several Tiger turnovers to climb to its first lead of 32-30. However, Hartselle senior Jaxon Peebles would come off the bench to hit a clutch three to take the lead back and help ignite the Tigers. The third quarter would continue to go back and forth as the Tigers continued to make errors. West Point would also benefit from turning up the press to force turnovers and it helped them grab a 44-42 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter would be much like the third. Grant Jared would get a key shot and foul to help the Tigers take a 45-44 lead. The Tigers would manage to keep their edge for the rest of the fourth quarter to hold on and win the game 62-58. After the game, head Coach Faron Key was mostly pleased with his team’s performance. “We did a better job of attacking inside than in some of our previous games and made some key free throws down the stretch” Key said “They gave us some matchups that gave us some problems but we were able to grind it out and find a way to win.”

Hartselle was also in action at the Holly Pond Thanksgiving tournament. They went 2-1 beating Fairview and West Point but lost to Holly Pond. Coach Key thought they learned more about the team but that they still had a long way to go before they were ready for area play.
