They had me at free soup

The anticipation was over before I even knew it.

Sogo Chinese Restaurant opened Thursday in the Hartselle Shoppes plaza on Highway 31 next to Marco’s Pizza.

I had no idea it was open until someone mentioned eating there the other day. I hadn’t seen any grand opening signs or heard of a ribbon cutting. Immediately, I wanted to check it out.

The next day I ordered take-out and was very pleased. The prices seemed reasonable, especially for the large quantity of food I received.

My husband and I went again the following day for lunch. The restaurant was not crowded either time that we went, which was nice, but I’m sure that will change once people realize it is open for business.

We were in and out for lunch in just over 30 minutes, which is unheard of at a sit down restaurant such as this.

I was pleased with every part of the experience, from the wonton soup and eggroll (which were free) to the delicious main course.

Their menu sports a wide variety of chicken, beef and seafood dishes, only a few of which I have tried. I haven’t been disappointed yet.

Now, I have some Chinese leftovers waiting for me in my refrigerator at home.
