Morgan County high schools held their commencement exercises during the past week.

On Mon., May 18, Falkville High School graduated 50 seniors at 7 p.m. in Drake Gymnasium.

A welcome was provided by Valedictorian and Class President Callie Garner. Luke Randolph, the class salutatorian, then gave a speech. He was followed by class valedictorians Nate Drinkard, Mikayla James, Dallas Mayer and Cheyenne Wilson. School counselor Ken James also presented awards and scholarships before diplomas were given.

Later that evening, 213 Brewer students received their diplomas at 7:30 p.m. in the BHS football stadium.

The following day on Tues., May 19, Danville High School held its graduation exercises in Smith-Owens Stadium at 7:30 p.m.  Salutatorian and Class President Charlee Anderson provided the welcome. Salutatorians Brent Anders and Jackson Broadfoot and valedictorians Luke Hinkle and Rachel Ryan also spoke before the diplomas were awarded.  Eighty-four students graduated that evening.

At the same time in Bulldog Stadium, 103 Priceville students walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.

Top ten students Luke Mason, Elizabeth McNutt and Dustin Chavers shared tributes to the teachers, parents and community members who had supported the class through their high school endeavors. Another top ten student, Lanie Bell read a poem, which she had written for her class.

Salutatorian Weston Hopkins gave a tribute to his class and was followed by Valedictorian Connor Sorrells, who shared an inspirational farewell. He advised his classmates to enjoy success but always stay humble. He then led the graduates and audience in a cheer. He concluded with one last word of advice.

“Let your voice be heard as boldly as it has been tonight,” Sorrells said.
