Police pursue Decatur man on foot

A Decatur man was arrested on multiple

charges Tues., May 5, following a car and foot pursuit.

Officers were patrolling near Central Parkway and Bluebird Lane around 10 p.m. Tuesday when they encountered two people who had been robbed at gunpoint. Using descriptions given by the victims, officers were able to track down the suspects’ vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, and his whereabouts are unknown at this time.

The passenger Jorge Ortega Lagunas, 20, of 1808 Glenn St. SW was captured after he jumped from the car and was pursued on foot. The Decatur Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit completed the investigation.

Lagunas was arrested and charged with robbery in the first degree, physical harassment and using a false name or address to an officer.
