Brewer splits doubleheader with Guntersville

Brewer’s Lady Patriots split a doubleheader at Guntersville Saturday.

In the opening game, Taylor Ledbetter went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run to lead Brewer to a 6-3 win.

Anna Sharp had an RBI double with a run scored while Bailey Watkins, Kennedy Winton and Cassidy Stephens had base hits. Stephens had two RBIs while Ledbetter and Winton added RBIs.

Watkins struck out eight batters while allowing three earned runs and one unearned run on four hits and three walks.

Guntersville took advantage of an error to score a walk-off run in the bottom of the eighth inning to edge Brewer 4-3 in the second game.

Kayla Mitchell went five innings, allowing three unearned runs on four hits and five walks with two strikeouts. Watkins struck out one in two innings of work.

Ledbetter was 2-for-2 with one run and two walks while Madison Evans had two RBIs on a single. Anna Sharp added another RBI on a double.

Watkins, Mitchell, Shelby Cooley, Winton and Stephens also added hits.
