HPD reports multiple burglaries this week

Several burglaries have been reported throughout the area since Tues., Jan. 27, according to the Hartselle Police Department.

Four church burglaries, three business burglaries and six auto burglaries have been reported so far. Bethel Baptist Church on Bethel Road, United Pentecostal Church on Eubanks Street, Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Pickens Street and Liberty Baptist Church on Lane Road all reported burglaries. Businesses with reports included Hartselle Motor Company, Valley Auto Sales and the office at the Woodbridge apartment complex.

“We are not sure if the auto burglaries are connected with the business and church burglaries at this time,” Barley said. “At several of the sites, nothing was taken. A safe was taken from the Pentecostal church and other valuables were missing from Bethel Baptist. They seem to be after safes, money boxes or money bags.”

Barley said HPD is still investigating the burglaries.

“Hopefully we will get a vehicle description or something soon to give us some leads,” Barley said. “We want to make sure that everyone is aware of the situation, so they will take special precautions.”

HPD asks that any suspicious persons or activity be reported to 256-773-6534.
