J. V. (Pete) Johnson

Funeral for J.V. (Pete) Johnson, 86, of Decatur, will be Thur., Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., prior to the funeral, at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died Mon., Jan. 5, 2015, at home. He was born April 16, 1928, in Prentiss County, Miss., to Jewett and Elzie Johnson and grew up in Leoma, Tenn. He retired from the Alabama State Highway Department with 25 years of service and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was a member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Christeva Laurence Johnson; two daughters, Linda Gordon (Russ) and Janet Sugg (John); grandchildren, Josh Gordon (Treva), Abigail Blevins (Billy), Sarah Minnon (Jon), John Cullen Sugg (Jennie), Sam Sugg and Peter Sugg; great-grandchildren, Cate, Allie, Evie, and Knox Blevins, Luke, Joshua, and Justus Minnon; Zach and Micah Gordon, and Jack Sugg; and a brother, W. H. Johnson.
