HANCEVILLE – Holly Pond’s big third quarter allowed the Broncos to take control of a tight game with Hartselle, en route to a convincing win in the semifinals of the Mitch Smith Classic Saturday at the Tom Drake Coliseum.

After playing to a draw in the first quarter, Jaylan Jackson gave Hartselle a 26-25 lead at the half with his lay-up at the buzzer.

However, the Broncos took control by outscoring Hartselle 22-12 in the third quarter to lead 47-38. Hartselle cut the lead to five points late in the fourth quarter before the Broncos pushed the game out of reach.

Jackson led Hartselle with 13 points. Kylar Topps added 9 followed by Casen Wallace with 8, Tobias Mitchell with 6, Dolan Golden with 4 and Isaac Taylor, Seth Garner and Josiah Lanier with 2 each.

Austin Smith led the Broncos with 28 while Drew Jones had 14 and Matt Cahoon had 12.
