Clyde Douglas Blankenship, 61, of 913 Pattillo St. SW in Hartselle was arrested Dec. 17 and charged with failure to register a move and violation of residence restriction by a sex offender. He was transferred to the Morgan County Jail and faces a $40,000 bond.

Special Victims Unit investigator Charles Radke found Blankenship had moved to 913 Pattillo Street, SW and had been living there for approximately a week without registering at the Morgan County Sheriff’s office. That address is less than 2,000 feet from a school and a daycare.

Blankenship, a registered, convicted sex offender, is required to register a move in accordance with statutes of the Sexual Offenders Registration and Community Notification Act (SORNA).
