Barkley Bridge Elementary students got a workout while helping to raise money for their school.

The school’s parent teacher organization sponsored its first Barkley Bridge Elementary Tiger Fun Run Friday on the playground.

Leslie Johnson said they have participated in similar type runs in the past, but they decided to do one on their own.

“So far, we’ve raised more than $15,000, and this is just our first year,” Johnson said.

Johnson, who emceed the run, said the students asked for donations from the community to support the run.

The top classroom will be rewarded with a party.

Johnson said the proceeds will go toward purchasing equipment for the school, including iPads, computers and other equipment and supplies.
