Nancy Jeane Blevins

A memorial service for Nancy Jeane Graves Blevins, 74, of Snellville, Ga., will be Sun., Sept. 14, at 3 p.m. from Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle.

Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Lacon. Visitation will be Sat., Sept. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle.

Mrs. Blevins died Tues., Sept. 9, 2014, in Snellville, Ga. She was a resident of Eva, from 1967 to 2007. She was born Aug. 1, 1940 in Geneva, Ohio to the late Ben and Florence Graves. She was married for 52 years to the love of her life, Vaughn Blevins. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Mrs. Blevins and her husband Vaughn were the founders and operators of the nonprofit organization “Adopt-A-Ship.” They sponsored Navy ships and provided Christmas parties for sailors that were deployed during the holidays. She was known for her charitable work and was recognized and nominated by the Governor Guy Hunt of Alabama at the Annual Reception for Volunteers and Volunteer leaders as one of the Volunteer’s of the year in 1992. She was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Blevins.

She is survived by two sons, Ben Blevins of Albertville and Dwight Blevins of Mary Esther, Fla.; and two daughters, Connie Blevins of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Rebecca Metcalfe of Loganville, Ga.; sister, Bonnie Hall; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
