Joppa man arrested with over a pound of meth

A Joppa man was arrested for trafficking meth Thurs., Aug. 14 from 3599 Hulaco Road.

Complaints from the community started an investigation into the residence several months ago. The Morgan County Drug Task Force discovered Dustin Tyler Smith had been distributing large quantities of meth throughout north Alabama.

Agents executed a search warrant and discovered over a pound of methamphetamine and three firearms at the residence. They seized the meth, firearms and a vehicle.

Smith was arrested for two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and had additional charges pending.

Smith had been arrested in 2013 for meth, according to a police report. Smith was out on bond and on Community Corrections upon his most recent arrest. His bond was revoked due to the new arrest.

The agencies involved are now turning their attention toward Smith’s suppliers and anticipate additional arrests in the coming months.
