Imogene Smithson

Funeral for Imogene Smithson, 81, of Decatur will be Sun., Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Mt Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Sun., Aug. 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smithson died Fri., Aug. 22, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Parkway Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1933, in Morgan County to Herman Leo Hopper and Hester Maze Hopper. She attended New Center Baptist Church and was a teacher for Hartselle’s Head-Start Program. Mrs. Smithson loved quilting and sewing and used her talents for making dresses for overseas missions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Smithson; and her parents.

She is survived by three sons, Dennis Smithson (Colleen) of Hartselle, Jeff Smithson (Shelley) of Danville and David Smithson of Hartselle; a daughter, Cathy Holmes (Keith) of Danville; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, make memorials to the New Center Baptist Church Missions Fund.
