Locals attend Governor’s School

Four students from area high schools were chosen to attend Alabama Governor’s School at Samford University June 15-27.

Sarah Ming of Athens High School, Alyssa Brown of Austin High School, Jack Underwood of Decatur High School and Elizabeth McNutt of Priceville High School were among 91 rising high school seniors from 24 counties who were selected for the two-week honors program.

Schools nominate AGS participants based on academic ability, leadership qualities, creativity, community service and a written essay. The students enjoyed college level experience in academics, creativity and leadership.
