Monk marks 100th birthday

Fleta Stringer Monk was 100 years old on June 16, 2014.

A birthday party was given in her honor on Sat., June16, at Falkville Healthcare Center by her children. She was born June 16, 1914, in commerce, Texas to Dan and Ida Brown Stringer. The family moved to Alabama when she was a toddler and she has lived in and around Hartselle since.

She was married to Hollis Monk and has four sons, Holland Monk (Beth), Frank Monk (Kathryn), Larry Monk (Mavis) and Carl Monk.
