St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Hartselle, celebrated both the day of Pentecost and the dedication of their organ Sun., June 8.

The organ is a gift from The Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur to the local Episcopal congregation. Donna Akers, organist at both St. Barnabas and Annunciation of the Lord, planned and executed the service of music which complimented the morning worship service of Holy Communion. Other church musicians who participated included Wes Weirich, organist, Sally Marsh, guitarist and vocalist, and Sheila Tate, vocalist. Sally Lowry led the service of dedication of the organ. Special guest musicians were the members of PLUS ONE which, in addition to Donna Akers, includes Mayor Don Kyle, Wayne White, Larry Littleton and Todd Whatley. Dottie White joined the group for a closing hymn using hand bells.

PLUS ONE performs at church and community events around Morgan County. St. Barnabas is located at 1450 Sparkman St. and gathers every Sunday at 10:00 for worship and Holy Eucharist.
